“Interpreting for 911: Trauma Assessment and Equipment”

This course was specifically designed for interpreters and translators in the field that find themselves interpreting for first responders as they administer aid to a trauma victim, on the witness stand, or translating documents pertaining to such cases. This course provides all the tools required to interpret the language used by first responders. It discusses the fundamental concepts of the trauma assessment, EMS protocols, equipment, and potential for malpractice; all from an interpreter's perspective.

Greg Birchfield is a retired Cal Fire Captain. He was a first responder for 30 years. He's an EMT and a certified first aid and CPR instructor. He has been a presenter for interpreters for 20 years. The presenter will discuss the steps taken to a first responder call whether it's a medical call or a crime scene. He will also discuss testimony and vocabulary used. He will also train students in Stop the Bleed in an emergency.
